About Intercultural Institute of Japan

Founded in 1977, the Intercultural Institute of Japan is one of the oldest Japanese language schools in Japan. Its close proximity to both Akihabara and Asakusa allows its students to experience Tokyo's past and future. Students will be fully accommodated with a diverse range of classes for different proficiencies and durations along with student housing and activities. With their Japanese teacher training program, the Institute is planting the seeds that will grow into the next generation of Japanese teachers that will spread the language, not just in Japan, but across the world.

Lesson Focus

50% of lesson time is focused on speaking and having complex conversations

40% of lesson time is focused on reading and writing in the different scripts

10% of lesson time is focused on differing elective subjects from culture studies to music

"The Intercultural Institute of Japan met my expectations for school quality for a good language school. Lessons are very useful. In the first two semesters, students learn basic grammar with kanji lessons and homework. You need to understand that these two semesters are the most difficult. However, this will give you a solid knowledge of the Japanese language that will ensure your success in Tokyo and the rest of Japan. The school team is also very supportive of the issues you are facing in Japan. In short, if you want to truly know Japanese, you will want to become a student at the Intercultural Institute of Japan.

"Overall, I had a great experience at the Intercultural Institute of Japan. The teachers I met were all very professional, but also friendly. The lessons I had in just one day were very helpful, and studying here for six weeks was a huge advantage for my Japanese skills. "Teachers are really friendly and positive and encouraging, classmates were friendly, the location was close to Akihabara. Learning was a smooth as they place you in a level where you can keep up. It really helped me in my JPLT exams in the latter part of the year. So, if you are tired of asking friends to accompany you on a Japanese holiday or have nobody to go with, you might want to consider this route of short-term study/exchange trip abroad."
